EXPLORE NEARBY

Doug’s house is astounding. We felt like we were staying in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, minus the waterfall. And with Doug’s photography and collected artwork all around, we felt like we were staying in an art gallery. It is indeed a great neighborhood - after a brief foray into downtown St Paul, we decided to stay local and just enjoy Doug’s house. We took long walks to explore our surroundings - the other eclectic houses, the university campus, and the many offerings on Como Avenue.

Doug is an extraordinary host. This is his main residence, and he clearly loves to share his space, and all of the serenity it exudes. We were honored to be there.

Our second stay here was just as good as the first. This house is a wonderful retreat. It was peaceful and serene. We made some sushi, listened to music, and watched some TV. The new soundbar for the TV was just right. We will absolutely be back.

This house is extraordinary. For lovers of mid-century homes, but also (and particularly) Japanese culture, I can’t imagine any place better outside of Japan. From the furnishings to the all natural materials used throughout the house, everywhere you look there is nature and serenity reflected. There is art and Zen beauty in each room, including the host’s own lovely photography. It was so peaceful looking out at the elegant Japanese-style landscaping from every aspect of the house. It’s a very special experience in a beautiful neighborhood, with a thoughtful and responsive host.

This home is one of a kind and absolutely a must for anyone looking to be close to the twin cities in a safe neighborhood and in totally private location. When you step into this house the whole outside world disappears.

My girlfriend and I are music loves and the sound system is in this home is like no other and completely mind blowing! When we had big plans to go out on a dinner date we found ourselves sitting in front of the incredible Magnepan speakers and missed our opportunity to go out to dinner.

The kitchen has everything needed to be a chef, including nice knives, beautiful hand made pottery, and an espresso machine.

Beautiful art fills this unique home in every corner. If you want an experience to remember this is the place.
