The ever-enchanting city of ANTIGUA Guatemala has my heart.
When I have chance to go, I stay at one of Antigua’s finest places to stay - MESON PANZA VERDE Hotel. Ideally located on the quiet end of Antigua’s famous Fifth Avenue. The iconic entrance is always adorned with fresh flowers, and stepping inside here feels just like coming home.
THE STAY
Each room at Meson Panza Verde is decorated with unique details, and each room is different. My favorite suite has beautiful handwoven Guatemalan textiles, original art and a cupola bathroom with a tub perfect for two! The cupola ceiling is simply stunning!
My adjacent sitting room has French doors leading out to a private terrace with a handwoven hammock. A large fireplace with antique writing desk and original art complete this exquisite room. I like to enjoy my first cup of coffee on the terrace when the sun comes up.
Want to see more soulful room goodness at Meson Panza Verde? I’ve got that for you right here.
BUENOS DIAS
Mornings are magic at Meson Panza Verde. Breakfast is served in La Sala. My favorite items on the menu are the fluffy golden omelets with avocado and cheese, thyme potatoes and red sauce. Mmmmm! Freshly squeezed orange juice and piping hot Guatemalan coffee adds the finishing touch.
Next up? My favorite pastime - finding artistic inspiration on a walking tour through the cobblestone streets of Antigua.
ARTIST’S INSPIRATION IN ANTIGUA
Stepping out from Meson Panza Verde, brings you right on to Fifth Avenue where colorful walls, picture perfect ruins and blooming flowers appear everywhere you turn. Browsing the sellers stalls with their gorgeous handwoven textiles can keep me entertained for hours. Many are hand-dyed with natural dyes, and the patterns are intricate and detailed.
Stopping by Fernando’s for an afternoon espresso is a MUST.
LET’S DO LUNCH
It would take weeks to eat your way through Antigua’s collection of restaurants…but make sure to stop by FRIDA’S Cocina Mexicana & Bar. I love everything FRIDA KAHLO along with the spicy margaritas, friendly staff and delicious food. Dos Margaritas por favor!
PICTURE PERFECT at MESON PANZA VERDE
Every corner of this hotel begs to be painted, or photographed. I made pictures indoors and out, and definitely think this would be a location for a designer to photograph their capsule collection on-site! It’s also a stunning location for a Photography Retreat like I am planning this year.
P.S. The Rooftop Terrace with it’s sweeping volcano views is pretty amazing, too.
GOLDEN HOUR at MESON PANZA VERDE RESTAURANT
Meson Panza Verde Restaurant is well known for its fine cuisine and romantic ambiance and has received the coveted “Tenedor de Oro” award, which is the best in the country. I enjoy dinner under the vaulted ceiling of the main Sala, surrounded by candlelight.
See you there at 8 pm?
I think you can see why Antigua, and MESON PANZA VERDE Hotel have stolen my heart. If you have any questions about this location, or about booking a stay here, please send me a note!
